What charges do I incur initially?
Rent is paid monthly in advance. Our security gates at Acacia Self Storage operate via a swipe tag or remote control. These have a $50 or $100 key deposit respectively (refundable). As such, at/prior to move-in you will need to pay one months’ rent plus a $50/$100 key deposit.
You provide your own padlock to your particular storage unit. If you do not have your own, we do have padlocks available for sale.
How long can I keep my storage unit?
At Acacia Self Storage, the minimum rental period is one month. There is no maximum rental period. You simply continue paying your rent monthly in advance until such time as you provide us with 14 days’ notice of your intention to vacate.
Upon vacating and returning your gate key/remote, we take into account your requirement for 14 days’ notice and your key refund to calculate your final account. As long as the required notice period and gate key have been provided, any unused rental days of your final month will be refunded to you.
What happens if I move out early?
Sometimes, you may only require storage for a few days/weeks. As it is a minimum rental period of one month, if you vacate within the first month you still pay the first months’ rent. You are still required to provide 14 days’ notice when vacating.
Taking into account your requirement for 14 days’ notice and your key refund, we calculate your final account balance.
What kind of security does Acacia Self Storage provide?
At Acacia Self Storage, security is one of our key priorities to help put your mind at ease while your contents are stored with us. Our complex has security lighting and perimeter fencing. Our automatic gate system has access control ensuring only tenants can enter the facility. CCTV security cameras monitor the facility.
Who else has access to my storage unit?
You provide your own padlock for your particular storage unit. As such, you control access to your space. Only people you provide your padlock keys to will have access into your unit.
Our security gates at Acacia Self Storage mean only tenants access the complex. Again, only people you provide the gate key to will be able to enter the facility.
Is there anything I am not allowed to store?
Under the Standard Self Storage Agreement you enter into, you are not able to store goods which are hazardous, dangerous, illegal, stolen, perishable, environmentally harmful or explosive. This includes items like petrol tins, paint thinner, full gas bottles or chlorine.
For insurance reasons, you should not store goods which are irreplaceable – currency, jewellery, furs, deeds, paintings, curios, works of art and items of personal sentimental value.
What are your hours and when can I access my space?
Gate hours of access to the facility are 6am to 8pm daily, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Extended hours by arrangement only. While convenient, we do not believe that 24/7 access is good security for a storage complex.
Customer queries can be made on 0418 654 683 between 8am-5pm Monday to Friday.
What happens if I do not pay my rent?
Your rent is payable monthly in advance. If your rent is not paid in accordance with the Terms of the Standard Self Storage Agreement you agree to, you will be refused access to the complex and your unit. After 42 days, we can legally enter your unit, seize your goods and take steps to sell your goods. We will do whatever we can to prevent this from occurring and you should contact us ASAP if you are struggling to meet you commitment, so that we can resolve the matter before ‘sell up’ stage.
What if I am using a removalist?
Acacia Self Storage is easily accessible for large removalist vans. All of our larger units have direct, drive-up access. Some of our smaller units are located within small passageways, the longest of which would be a 10m walk from the drive to the furthest unit within the passage.
How are the buildings constructed?
Our buildings are constructed with a solid steel frame, fitted with colorbond steel exterior wall and roof sheeting. Most units have an industrial roller door offering a width and height of up to 2.4m.
